Obimo was inspired by a conversation I had with my doctor. I went for a check-up, and my doctor said I needed to watch
my sugar level. When he said it, it was a 'light bulb' moment for me. I thought about starting the song with exactly
that line. Ragee (the producer) and I just started working on some ideas. Then he sent me the beat for Obimo. I had some
top lines, some melodies, some words that were written by Banks. When I heard it, I knew it was the one. The beat
reminded me of how I felt when I heard the guitar on Orente, so I decided to write the song about my love. I got in the
studio, and of course, the first thing I said was “Doctor say make I watch my sugar level, your body turn me into
rebel”. I wrote the song with all the joy in my heart because it's really true to me. When I finished, I called my
guitarist to play on the song cos I wanted it to be live. And that's how I made Obimo.
